Today is a good day.

When we saw the neurosurgeon on January 29th he told us he would be referring us to neuromuscular at the University of Michigan.

I knew getting in up there would be a process and would take some time. However, I wasn't prepared for exactly how long it would take. I assumed they would contact me, we would schedule an appointment for a month or two out and that would be that. Boy was I wrong.

After not hearing anything for a month and multiple calls back and forth to the neurosurgeon's office, I finally called the neuromuscular department at U of M myself. They told me they were waiting on a records request and then the physician would review his case before they could call us with dates for an appointment. I immediately called the neurosurgeon's office to find out what the hold up was on the records request. After speaking with a nurse who knew nothing about the request, she called UM to find out what they needed. When she called me back to tell me she was working on getting all of the information they needed sent up there, she also told me that whoever she spoke to informed her that "there's no way they'll be getting an appointment in March." I was crushed. This little boy needs to be seen. Now. Not in a couple months.

I spent the next week thinking about what I could do to speed the process up. I had been researching Nationwide Children's in Columbus and decided to call the neurosurgeon's office back and ask to have a referral sent to them. This was last Friday, March 6th.

I GOT A CALL FROM NATIONWIDE TODAY! And guess what?

WE HAVE AN APPOINTMENT IN TWO WEEKS!

Finally! It's been a month and a half and UM couldn't even schedule an appointment. Nationwide got the referral Friday and we are seeing them THIS MONTH! Just another reason we're Buckeye fans..

Today is a good day!
